What are my priorities for teaching?

 

These are my priority teaching points that I, Cathlin Reese,

have adopted from my wonderful Suzuki Teacher Trainer,

Mr. Edward Kreitman.

1.  Teaching balanced posture of the body, including violin and bow hold. 

2.  Teaching balanced tone production or “tonalization.”

3.   Teaching perfect intonation.

4.  Teaching skills for developing artistic musicianship in performance. 

5.  Teaching notes and bowings to new pieces.

 

These 5 priorities are clearly stated in his book, 

Teaching from the Balance Point.  I took the teacher training classes from Ed for Suzuki Books 1-3 and the Power of the Group Class and he helped me become the teacher that I am today.
